Who Is Nancy Taft?

Taft for Commissioner - Precinct 2!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nancy S. Taft Announces Candidacy for Scurry County Commissioner, Precinct 2

SNYDER, TEXAS — Nancy S. Taft, attorney, college Instructor, small-business owner, and local farmer, has officially announced her candidacy for Scurry County Commissioner, Precinct 2. Taft will appear on the ballot in the Republican Primary on March 3, 2026.

Taft brings a unique combination of professional experience, advanced education, and deep community involvement to the race. Before relocating to Scurry County in 2020, she lived and worked across the United States, including Washington, California, Virginia, and New Jersey. Those experiences, she says, gave her firsthand insight into how government decisions directly affect families, businesses, and local communities.

“Texas—and Scurry County in particular—represent the values I believe in most: faith, freedom, personal responsibility, and community first,” Taft said. “I believe God led my family here, and I am committed to serving this community with integrity and wisdom.”

Taft and her husband, Art, own and operate One Way Farm in Scurry County, where they raise beef cattle, chickens, and honey bees. Through her work on the farm, Taft has gained firsthand experience with the challenges facing agriculture, landowners, and small businesses, reinforcing her commitment to responsible stewardship of the land and practical local governance.

Taft holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Software Engineering, a Juris Doctor, and a Master of Divinity. She currently serves as an instructor at Western Texas College in Snyder teaching in Business Administration, Philosophy, and Government . Her broad background in agriculture, business, technology, law, and theology positions her to thoughtfully evaluate complex issues and make informed, principled decisions.

She has also expressed deep appreciation for the role local churches play in strengthening the community. “I am continually impressed by how churches across Scurry County work together—across denominations—to meet real needs and serve families,” Taft said. “That spirit of unity is one of the county’s greatest strengths.”

If elected, Taft says her priorities will include protecting property rights, supporting agriculture and local businesses, maintaining strong infrastructure and public safety, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and planning wisely for responsible growth—without sacrificing the values that define Scurry County.
